week 15--Business Marketing

Business marketing is the marketing of goods and services to individuals and organizations for purposes other than personal comsuption. Saling computers to schools and colleges is an example of business marketing. Apple sell their computers to some college. Even though there are a lot apple computers in the computer lab, they still have some. Apple can promote their computers. And this kind of business, it won't just sell one or two . Schools usually buy great amount.Apple can earn more money in selling big amount of products.
Apple has been so successful in these last years thanks to his fresh, imaginative way to think and do its business: a winning combination of exceptional products, great style and design, great strategy, innovative marketing, sleek and enticing communications. Additionally,Apple owes its overwhelming success in the last years to the iPhone and to the smart iPod and iTunes product combination, a combination of a great hardware piece with great style, great software, great performance, user friendly interface, with a good e-business service. The iPod + iTunes halo effect and new great Mac computers and Mac OS software did the rest in increasing Apple revenue stream. So many big organization buy products from apple.

The core target market for Apple products are young adults and teenagers for both male and female, primarily in USA, Canada, Europe and Asia.However, Apple doesn't seem to target market in the way other companies do. Even though their main target are professional users, they target people. It focuses on users of all type of demographic group and market.Apple's market segmentation is characterized in age, gender and desire for image and creating product desirability mainly to everyone. Apple's products are targeted from middle to high class consumers.Apple’s iPhone currently ranks third in global smart phone sales behind only Nokia and RIM. Apple’s iPhone seen the largest gain year-over-year.
   Apple lets users decide how and where they'll use its products. Most importantly Apple target to the most creative and liberal people that love innovative, high-tech new products.Since Apple launched its first products to the public, it began expanding around the nation. For the past years Apple geographic segmentation has increase globally. Targeting to major cities around the world.Apple has become a well known company globally and its strategy concerning target segmentation and targeting markets are simple and open to everyone.

Ever since Apple open Apple Stores, their business increased turning Apple to be one of the most successful company in the market. It has been revealed that Apple Inc is one of the most innovative company that have higher average stock returns and higher average growth.Apple remains at its core a product company, one that would never give up control of how their products are created.
   In the managing process of all components including hardware, operating systems and the developer tools are designed by one company. They are all designed to work together flawlessly, in order to create an easier and much more perceptive experience so developers can focus on making great apps. Apple is widely regarded as one of the most effective companies at launching products today.Apple is able to generate interest and excitement over even minor product launches because of its reputation for creating innovative, elegant and functional hardware and software.

 A concept of marketing communications planning that recognizes the added value of a comprehensive plan that evaluates the strategic roles of a variety of communication disciplines and combines these disciplines to provide clarity,consistency and maximum communications impact.Apple has one of the best selling techniques in the business...and it really doesn't require much work. They let the product speak for itself. Allowing the consumers to have a hands on experience is a plus for the company. It didn't require a rocket scientist to figure it out, but it's still a valuable strategy for promotion of products. All of the things Apple does to keep us informed and aware of their product are really working out because they are a very fast growing company that will only keep on growing. The way they integrate their marketing communications is amazing because they target such a broad market but yet they are successful at reaching us and making us buy.

week 10 April-- product concepts

  When it comes to their products, Apple is very precise. Their product has to be unique like no other in very way possible. Apple new technologies consist of being ultra thin and touch screen. For example, I phone , I touch , and I pad. They all use new touch screen. It seems like the leader of touch screen market. Apple's concept is want to go first in the market. Apple's CEO Steve Jobs, focuses on making its products unique. A big Apple product usually begins with a big idea for an unmet customer need. Then designers figure out what the product should look like and what features it should have.

week9--- sales promotion and personal selling

 Apple uses promotional methods using special short-term techniques to persuade members of a target market to respond or undertake their products. Examples of certain methods Apple uses for sales promotions are money back guarantees, lower purchase price and rebates. Apple store display all the products and customers can try any of them.This lets consumers get comfortable with the products and familiarize themselves with it. This is a major consumer sales promotion that Apple has developed.
  During special consumer promotions, Apple has its certain auditions in which they target directly.Apples promotes their Mac book laptops for college students. When students show their school I.D, they pay for a Mac book book and get any free Ipod they desire and a free printer. I think this is a good promotion method because I was one of its targeted audience who purchased this great deal.

  Advertising is one-way mass communication about a product or organization that is paid for by a marketer. And public relations is the element in the promotional mix that evaluates public attitudes, identifies issues that may elicit public concern,and executes programs to gain public understanding and acceptance.
  In the past two decades, Apple Inc. has become well known for its advertisements, which are designed to reflect a plan of marketing their products to creative individuals. Every time apple has new product spread to the market, they will design the advertisements to promote products. Customers can see those advertisements many places. Apple Inc. has good public relations. Their advertisements show customers that how the product is. Or in their website, customers can know the functions and price of the products they want. Customers understand and accept apple inc.

week 7 --- Retailing

  Retailing means all the activities directly related to the sale of goods and services to the ultimate comsumer for personal, nonbusiness use. We are involved in retailing everyday, when we shop for groceries, clothes, books and many other products and services.

  Apple store is a retailing store, there are over 300 stores in worldwide. also, apple is a speciatly store, they stores. Apple stores use large open 

tables to display company products, making it easier for visitors to play with them. For this reason, consumers can play the products they want to buy, they could know the products better.  Make sure they like it, then but it.  For example, on March 11th, the first day of selling I-pad 2. There was a big table and displaying I-pad 2. Consumers around that table to play with this new product. They can first time to know how is I-pad 2 different from i-pad 1. And try to know new functions on it.

week 6 --consumer decision making

      Consumer behavior processes a comsumer uses to make pruchase decisions. Usually, people plan to buy a new product, they will follow these steps. Need recognition,is consumer want to buy something. It occurs when comsumer are faced with an imbanlance between actual and desired states that arouses and activates the comsumer decision-making process.Like, people see I-pad 2 is coming, they want to buy one. The second step is information search, while people see I-pad 2 's ad. They will do some research for this new product, trying to know it better. The next step is evaluation of alternatives,from the research, consumers know about I-pad 2 better. They 'll think about if it's necesary. They 'll compare I-pad2 with others. Then some of them will be purchase. The last is postpurchase behavior.
         There are some factors influencing consumer buying decisions, social factor is one of them to effect consumers buying I-pad 2. Usually there is a new product in Apple Inc comes, many fans go for lines and buy it. The ohter is induvidual factors, they want to have a better lifestyle. So that they buy everything new. Also, cultural factors and psychological factors are important. They may effect people's decisions to buy products.

   Global marketing is the marketing that targets markets throughout
the world. Global vision is recognizing and reacting to international
marketing opportunities, using effective global marketing strategies,
and being
aware of threats from foreign competitors in all markets. These two
factors are most important for a frim to join the oversea market.

The target market for Apple Inc who have a few characteristics. Middle/Upper income folks who are willing to pay a bit more for a better user experience. paying 500 more for a computer is not a huge deal if you have a decent income.
  Secondly, People who like to have fun with technology. No other platform offers as many entry level tools (the whole iLife bunch and more). This includes people who like to shoot a lot of digital photos or video. It's the whole digital hub concept. People are starting to buy into it.
Or music enthusiasts and fans ages 12-35.
And Professionals in media and design.
 
 
 As disposable incomes rise, more families and induviduals can afford the "good life". And their purchasing power is higher, so that they can buy many things they like. Apple's products have high technology, they can be satisfied with those people who want good life.

This chapter talk about strategic planning for competitive advantage. There is full of competition in the market, consumers have many choices while they want to buy something. So the firm need to attract to consumers to patronage with them, they have to think about the strategies to beat other competition. People need for conducting a situation analysis. So that they could understand the current environment that the product or service will be marketed in. Also a firm should know its congeneric competition, do everything faster and better than others.When a firm have a product, it need to do research for that new product. What target is it for? Every single product should be specific for a group of people. Sometimes firms use promotion strategies and pricing strategies. That's a way for competitive advantage ,too. When a person is going to buy a product, he has choices. I think he will choose the one with promotion or lower pricing. For example , I choose Apple inc to be the company for discussion. It open up the market for smart mobile phone. Apple Inc have well marketing planning , because everytime Apple is going produce a product. Ads will be seen everywhere, like the subway, post card, telephone booth. People who are interested in it, they will pay attion to the ads. Apple Inc mostly for specific groups of people. Those people who are popular, have ability to buy the products . Because the products in Apple Inc is not cheap. They know the target for market. On the other hand, most new products will be upgrade very often.I think it's the product strategies for Apple Inc. So that others company can't copy from them. And it 's a way to protect themselves, people can't decode their products easily.

Chapter 1

Most people use Iphone today. So I choose Apple Inc to be the company I am to analyze this semester. Apple was established on April 1, 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne.  There were no screens for computers that time. They use TV to be a screen. And it's very successful. Day after day, apple 's products still have the most stable sale in the market.  They renew the products very often. And new products have been come out continuously,  Apple has released the Iphone since 2007.  It was big sale. Many youths start to use Iphone. From today , Iphone 4 has come already. It hold the main market in phones.  The price still very high in the market.  And they have new product named I pad in 2010. It s a kind of computer. Just like a bigger size Iphone.  Almost every year, Apple Inc will give customers surprise for new products. They can catch the people's mind , so when apple is going release a product. Many fans will go for standing on the long line to buy it. It's very crazy. And apple inc will listen to customer , also. They will try to make products better and better. They can hold the good relationship with customers. Apple's products often have good quality, and they have guarantee for each product. People will trust that and choose those products , though with higher price. I think the mission statement for apple inc is that. Apple computer is committed to protecting the environment, health and safety of our employees, customers and the global communities where we operate.
